Students are the heart and soul of GIST
<BMSE Seminar>
2018.April 05 (PM.4:30~) / Dasan bldg.#109
Speaker: Prof. Lee, Kyung Hwa
The purpose of this talk is to introduce neuropathology through glioblastoma and Alzheimer's disease, which are representative diseases of the nervous system. These two diseases are the most lethal human diseases that occur in the nervous system, and they are also the subject of the most frequent research topics. Glioblastoma is the fastest growing brain tumor and has the shortest life expectancy. Because of its unique invasiveness, recurrence, and fatality, it is often used in the study of malignant tumors and can be diagnosed by characteristic histologic findings. Alzheimer's disease, on the other hand, is characterized by gradual loss of function and dying of nerve cells through the accumulation of characteristic toxic proteins. Neuropathology is introduced through comparison of the most extreme disease of uncontrolled proliferation of cells and the fatal diseases caused by the slow death of nerve cells. Biography Dr.Lee is an associate Professor of Pathology at Chonnam National University Medical School and an attending physician of the Chonnam National University Hwasun Hospital. Dr.Lee's subspecialty is neuropathology focusing on dementia pathology and brain tumor. Gastointestinal pathology on colorectal canver though moecular biology is also a part of her academic interest.
