Korean Language Course Exemption for international students
 
<Basic Korean>, <Beginner Korean 1>, and <Beginner Korean 2> are mandatory for undergraduate students
<Basic Korean> is mandatory for Master’s students
<Basic Korean> AND <Beginner Korean 1> are mandatory for PhD/Integrated students
 
* Exemption from  <Basic Korean>
   -  Holders of TOPIK Level 2 or above
   - or completed <Basic Korean> in a prior degree program
   - or pass a separate Korean proficiency test administered by a Korean instructor
 
* Exemption from <Beginner Korean 1>
   -  Holders of TOPIK Level 3 or above
   - or completed <Beginner Korean 1> in a prior degree program
   - or pass a separate Korean proficiency test administered by a Korean instructor
 
** Please note: Only valid TOPIK scores submitted during the GIST admission process are considered for exemption, and they must be submitted within two weeks of admission.
 
1. If you have TOPIK Level 2 or above, please submit the 'Application for Korean Course Exemption' along with your TOPIK score report by September 10th at 17:00, GIST College B, Room 102. (Strictly Enforced)
* Applications submitted after the deadline will not be accepted, so please make sure to submit your documents within the specified period.
 
2. To take the Korean proficiency test,
ⓐ to check the status and submit the 'Application for Korean Course Exemption', please contact LEC Admin at College B 102 ☎​ 062-715-6655, gistlec@gist.ac.kr
ⓑ to schedule the test, contact our Korean instructor, Dr. Shim, Sun Hyang(hanayena@gist.ac.kr)
