GIST Future Electronic Device Research Center
signs R&D MoU with Yujin Ecociel Co., Ltd.
□ Professor Byoung Hun Lee of the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST) Future Electronic Devices Research Center will be signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Yujin Ecociel Co., Ltd., on December 28, 2106, to cooperate on research and development of graphene-based technology.
□ Under this MoU, both parties plan to pursue research cooperation to develop advanced clean production technology for waste produced by steel plants by converting into raw material for graphene.
□ GIST Future Electronic Devices Research Center is a cutting-edge new materials research team with six professors who study electronic materials and new technologies for electronic devices. It was established in 2010 to systematically and continuously study how new materials can be used to improve electronic device.
∘ Yujin Ecociel Co., Ltd., located in Dangjin, Chungnam, is a company that refines steel slag, which is a by-product of steel production, into SC Balls (steel compound ball), which is an eco-friendly new material using advanced SQP (Slag Quenching Plant) technology.
□ Professor Byoung Hun Lee of the GIST School of Materials Science and Engineering, said, "I hope that this cooperation will lead to the best practices for GIST"s outstanding research results in solving realistic problems within industry."
