GIST Business Incubator hosts 2016 GIST CEO Forum
□ The GIST Business Incubator at the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (President Seung Hyeon Moon) hosted the 2016 GIST CEO Forum with the Gwangju Creative Innovation Center on November 25, 2016, at Oryong Hall for aspiring entrepreneurs.
∘ This event is meant to coincide with the Davos Forum, with is an international gathering of economic and business people held in Davos, Switzerland. The GIST CEO Forum is a conference type event with CEOs of various backgrounds, such as mid-size businessmen in Gwangju, Jeonnam, start-up entrepreneurs, and businessmen.
∘ (Start-up CEO) The Start-up CEO session, which is designed to find ways to increase the success rate of start-up businesses in Gwangju and Jeonnam, offered time for networking and mentoring between participants to share related information.
∘ The CEO of North Mountain, who is also the vice chairman of the Korea Angel Investment Association, is providing investment information for start-ups and gave a special lecture on corporate investments. He also provided information on the latest entrepreneurial trends and technology start-ups.
∘ (Family CEO) The Family CEO session focused on local businesses in Gwangju and Jeonnam that specializes in technology commercialization, industry-university joint research, technology and management consultation.
∘ (Campus CEO) The Campus CEO session focuses on GIST student entrepreneurs and had a panel discussion hosted by Korea Technology Investment Association CEO Yeong-ho Kim.
□ (Invitation to Investment Promotion) During the afternoon session, about 100 participants of forum, including local businessmen, founders, investors, participated in individual events.
∘ Neuro navigation using electric brain stimulation developed by Byeong-joon Gil (representative of Neurofit Co., Ltd.), GIST of Electrical and Computer Engineering, GIST Business Incubator), the company opened a way to become a promising venture company by attracting a 100 million won investment from "Future Play Co., Ltd."
* TIPS (Technology Incubator Program for Start-ups): Supports the start-up of private investment-led technology and discovers entrepreneurs with excellent skills and supports them with start-up investments and R & D funds.
∘ Neurofit Co., Ltd. is an excellent student start-up company uncovered through GIST"s mock start-up program. It has been awarded the 2015 Grand Prize at the start-up competition held jointly by five science and technology specialization universities in Korea.
□ GIST Business Incubator Director Seungkeun Gi said, "This forum is a place where leaders of the local economies, such as pre-founders, founders, start-up CEOs, CEOs of small and medium enterprises in the Gwangju area, and GIST alumni who are CEOs have a chance to share our goals and achievements with each other. We plan to host this event on a regular basis and develop it into a leading economic and management forum for Gwangju and Jeonnam."
