A signing ceremony was held on October 24, 2016, with preliminary entrepreneurship teams from Gwangju and Jeonnam region. They were selected at the ‘2016 Tech to Market’ simulated investment contest held by the Applied Science and Technology Research group at GIST.

The ‘Tech to Market’ program is mean to help commercialize technologies and research developments made by laboratories at GIST. The program was introduced this year to help familiarize GIST members with the process of commercializing technology, to help them with writing business plans, and to help them experience the reality of marketing.

Five preliminary entrepreneurship teams have been selected for the program. ‘Haptic reality bot’ by the School of Mechanical Engineering Professor Jae-ha Ryu, ‘Infra-red photo detector module’ by the School of Materials Science and Engineering Professor Byoung Hun Lee, ‘The functional polymeric nano fibrosis’ by the School of Materials Science and Engineering Professor Jae-suk Lee, ‘Real-time aerosol composition analyzer’ by the School of Environmental Science and Engineering Professor Gi-hong Park, and ‘Realistic stereo audio service technology in portable multimedia devices’ by the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Professor Heung-guk Kim.

These five teams will receive 20 million won in mock funding as they attend a ‘start-up accelerator program that will actually prepare them to receive real funding. In addition, teams can participate for the public investment presentation (IR) on November 15, 2016, that may lead to actual investments.

Entrepreneurship Promotion Center Director Jin-hee An said, “Through programs such as ‘Tech to Market,’ we hope that our professors, researchers, and students will have more interest in entrepreneurship.”
