GIST lecture series hosted by the Asian Culture Complex
will be open to the general public

The Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST) in conjunction with the Asian Culture Complex (ACC) will host a series of special lectures to help spread scientific literacy among the general public.

GIST College Chaired Professor Hie-Joon Kim is a distinguished scholar, and he will provide humanities lectures for the general public. Professor Kim"s lecture on "Where did we come from?" will be featured at the Asian Culture Complex on May 4, 2016. The lecture will cover the past ten thousand years of human history and cultural development. Professor Kim will also delve into the deeper into the deeper mysteries of the universe by explaining the prevailing scientific theory of how the universe originated some 13.8 billion years ago in the big bang.

Professor Kim"s lectures are proving very popular with a wider audience as his lectures are uploaded to the Korean K-Mook service and having been ranked seventh in overall popularity.

The humanities lecture series are being organized by the Asian Culture Complex and will include a total of 24 lectures on such topics as philosophy, science, history, and popular culture. For more information, contact the Asian Culture Center at 1899-5566.
