In a Board of Trustees meeting held on February 25, Professor Moon Seunghyeon of School of Environmental Science and Engineering was elected the 7th President of GIST.

A graduate of Gwangju Jeil High School and Seoul National University, President Moon received his Ph.D. degree in chemical engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology in the United States. Since joining the faculty of GIST in 1994, President Moon has served in numerous academic leadership positions, including Director of International Environmental Research Center, Dean of Academic and Student Affairs, and Director of Research Institute for Solar and Sustainable Energies. In 2006 – 2008, he served as Vice President of GIST and Acting President of GIST.

President Moon takes office on February 25, 2015 and will serve for four years through February 24, 2019.
