APRI hosts a science event for Cheomdan area elementary school students
APRI Science Event held on April 26, 2016
The Advanced Photonics Research Institute (APRI • Director Woo Keun Song) at the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST • President Seung Hyeon Moon) has held a science event for Cheomdan area elementary school students on April 26, 2016. The science event was a chance for kids from three Cheomdan area elementary schools and their teachers to experience light and lasers through an interactive educational experience.
The goal of the APRI science event is to help young children develop a deep and abiding curiosity to learn more about science and technology. Participating students learned the basic principles of light, painted with lasers, popped a balloon with lasers, and experienced high-powered lasers.
The event was organized by APRI Vice President Yeung Lak Lee who said, "APRI is reaping excellent research results in the areas of basic science and industrial applications, such as the development of our 1.5 peta-watt high-powered laser. We hope that APRI"s tremendous achievements will inspire these amazing elementary students as stepping-stones to even greater and better scientific discoveries."
