GIST (Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology) has appointed six full-time faculty members as "GIST Distinguished Professor" for their outstanding achievements.

 

There were three areas of appointments: Dr. Kwanghee Lee and Dr. Dong-Yu Kim from the School of Materials Science and Engineering (research field); Dr. Jae Il Kim from the School of Life Sciences (practical field); and Dr. Sung-Ju Park and Dr. Jae-Suk Lee from the School of Material Sciences and Engineering, and Dr. Yong-Tak Lee from the School of Information and Communications were granted tenure.

 

Professor Kwanghee Lee conducts world-class scientific research in the field of semiconductors, such as developing the world"s first tandem organic photovoltaics that exhibits improved solution processability.

 

Professor Dong-Yu Kim is researching nano-surface relief grating using azobenzene polymer in the field of photonics polymer.

 

Professor Jae Il Kim is a founder of AnyGen Co.,Ltd. and holds an excellent track record for developing practical applications, such as establishing the first peptide APIs manufacturing facility in Korea.

 

Professor Yong-Tak Lee in the field of green energy has published 186 SCI-level papers, holds 14 international patents as well as 30 domestic patents, and has been noted in the "Research Highlight" section of Nature Photonics.

 

Professor Jae-Suk Lee has produced excellent results in the field of functional polymer synthesis, such as discovering Living Anionic Polymerization of the isocyanate functional group.

 

Professor Sung-Ju Park has contributed to the development of the p-type ZnO LED in the optical semiconductor device field.
