Chairman Chung Mong-Koo of Hyundai Motor Group paid a visit to GIST on December 19 and checked on the progress of the Gwangju Creative Economy Innovation Center, which is scheduled to be opened on the campus early next year.

Hyundai Motor Group is working together with Gwangju City to establish the innovation center to be a base for promoting a creative economy in the region through industrial-academic-research cooperation. The center will house small and medium sized technological startups and provide them with business consulting.

Chairman Chung said, “Preparations for the new center, including the design and development of detailed operational programs, should be made with utmost care so that fruitful results may be reaped.” Hyundai Motor Group plans to nurture a new business ecosystem for environment-friendly automobiles in the center.
