2009 Nobel Prize Winner in Chemistry, Professor Thomas A. Steitz (72) of Yale University, USA, visits Korea to present a special lecture.
GIST (Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology, President Kim Young-Joon) announced that visiting professor Steitz will present a special lecture under the theme <Structural biology of ribosome, from search areas to developing new medicine> at the Auditorium in main administration building, GST, at 5 p.m. on the Oct. 9th.
Professor Steitz will explain about the fundamental principles of life through X-ray 3rd structure of ribosome which is a cell organelle in charge of synthesizing protein, and about the current situation of development on new structure-based antibiotics.
