2,000 senior citizens aged over 65 in Gwangju

to receive free dementia medical check-ups

- Signing an MOU between GIST, Chosun University, Gwangju Metropolitan City
- Utilizing MRI and 3D brain imaging analysis technology
- providing more than one million won per person for five years

 

 

Free dementia early medical check-up service will be provided for 2,000 Gwangju citizens over 65 years of age from this month. Those who are categorized as a high risk group after the check-up will be taken care of by specialists through a follow-up examination.

 

Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology(GIST, President Kim Young-Joon), Chosun University(Acting president Lee Sang-yul) and Gwangju Metropolitan City(Mayor Kang Un-tae) signed an MOU on the free dementia early medical check-up service at Gwangju City Hall on September 3, 2012. A specific project will be run by GIST Bio Imaging Research Center(Director Song Woo-keun), Chosun University Hospital(Director Min Yong-don), and Gwangju Metropolitan City.

 

GIST, Chosun University and Gwangju Metropolitan City are expecting that this MOU will contribute to improving the welfare of Gwangju citizens as it will reduce the financial burden by providing a free medical check-up for dementia which needs a lot of cost.
