Advanced Photonics Research Institute 10th Anniversary Symposium 

Great scholars in high-power laser research gathers in GIST.

- GIST, APRI holds 10th Anniversary Symposium.

- Invites over 50 experts from 7 countries and discusses cooperation in the laser research on international level.

 

Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology(GIST, President Jung-ho Sonu) Advanced Photonics Research Institute(APRI, Director In-won Lee) held a symposium on high-power laser and its application for two days from Sept. 29 at the Grand Hall(1F) of the institute. In this symposium experts from home and abroad have participated.

High-power laser plays important roles not only in the basic science research sector such as physics, chemicals, and biology but also in application development sector such as ultra-precision machining, guided missile interception, cancer treatment, and nuclear fusion. Recently, the high-power laser is gaining more attention.

 

The director of APRI In-won Lee said "I am very pleased to be here in this meaningful gathering with so many laser researchers and experts from the world in the 10th anniversary of APRI. For the short period of the time, APRI has achieved a remarkable development toward a world-class research institute. This symposium will be an opportunity to strengthen international cooperation in the laser research sector to a level higher."
