<P><BR><SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: 11pt">"It was verified that the number of publication per professor of GIST is a global level, which selects new undergraduate students for the first time in this year."<BR>He said that GIST will be a "small but strong" university like Caltech. <BR>&nbsp;<BR>▲ GIST is not included in evaluation object of the total ranking at evaluation of Asia university in this time Chosun Ilbo·QS, because some index like the reputation of graduate students cannot be measured due to selection of a new undergraduate student for the first time in this year. <BR>&nbsp;<BR>However, since the opening in 1995, GIST has managed undergraduate and Ph. D. course, and by this time evaluation, it was established that the research ability of professors in GIST is a global level.<BR><BR>"The number of publication per professor is 5.05, and this is a top ranking in Asia university. The ranking at evaluation of world university in last year The Times·QS was 15th (first in Asia)."<BR><BR>He explained that the reason of good research product was the result of intensive&nbsp; investment to selected few departments. He said "GIST concentrated a budget upon high-tech fields of IT, BT, NT, and ET, and increased great capacity by striving research."<BR><BR>It is the highest level in Korea that the number of students (graduate and Ph. D course) per professor is 8. Each ratio of foreign professors and students is over 10%, and GIST made an aim of international university by increasing English lectures steadily after opening of university. <BR><BR>He said "GIST became a research oriented graduate school of graduate and Ph. D course by successful expansion of last 15 years." and "I will select undergraduate students of 100 persons from this year, and promote on "a famous college of science and engineering".&nbsp; <BR><BR>The working model of GIST is the "Caltech" in USA. He said "I want to concentrate a budget for a few selected students of having interrogatory method of teaching, practical-centered study, and fundamental science like Caltech, which selects new undergraduate students of 230 persons a year."&nbsp; <BR><BR>In the future, new undergraduate students will study fundamental science and cultural studies for free course without a major until 2 year college, and enter upon major tracks from the third-year.<BR><BR>He said, "I will make GIST a representative science and engineering university in Korea, having strong ability to compete with the world famous universities.&nbsp; <BR></SPAN></P></SPAN></SPAN>
