Solicitation of candidates for GIST President Position
Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology(GIST) invites a president who will lead GIST to the world-leading science and technology university in the 21st century.
GIST is a leading research-oriented university established by the Korean government in 1993. GIST has fulfilled its purpose in founding and developing a national science and technology institute and nurturing talented people in this area. As a result, GIST has grown to be one of the world’s top research-oriented universities, as it ranked 12th in the area of Paper Citations per Faculty in the 2011 QS World University Rankings.
Now, GIST is seeking an ideal candidate to fill the position of university president, one who will provide effective academic leadership with a sense of vision.
Eligibility
- A person of character and capacity to represent GIST
- A person who possesses excellent academic administrative experience, strong leadership, and interpersonal skills
- A person who does not fall under the categories of disqualified persons stated in the Article 19 of the GIST Charter (Please refer to attachment)

- Completed “Personal Profile” including administrative and management career (Please use the attached form within 5 pages of A4-size paper)
- Essay on your strategic management plan for GIST with a long-term vision (within 5 pages of A4-size paper)
- A copy of resident registration form (in case of Korean candidates)

- Application Deadline : 6:00 p.m. on April 24, 2012
- Application Procedure : Documents should be submitted in person or by registered mail(E-mail applications can not be accepted)

- In case of a registered mail, only those arriving by the deadline will be accepted.
- Submitted documents will not be returned. Recommendation for nomination of successful candidate shall be canceled if the information stated in the submitted documents are found untruthful.
