GIST Business Incubator receives award from
the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning
□ The Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST • President Seung Hyeon Moon) Business Incubator received the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning award in the category of business start-up support at the 2016 Creation Economic Venture Business Opportunity held at COEX in Seoul on December 1, 2016.
∘ The GIST Business Incubator was recognized for its contribution to revitalizing the start-up business by operating a variety of support projects for community companies and companies in the early stages of foundation and for supporting start-ups in Gwangju and Jeonnam regions.
□ The GIST Business Incubator has been operating 10 start-up support projects for the past three years. It has initiated and supported 59 business start-up teams and has operated customized support programs for 94 companies.
△ The GIST Business Incubator also provides support in various fields, such as prototype manufacturing (technology), intellectual property rights, participation in exhibitions and media reports, marketing, 1 to 1 consulting, etc. △ It also operates educational programs related to entrepreneurship and technology start-ups, △ and it has been trying to expand the foundation of businesses in Gwangju and Chonnam areas, such as supporting overseas market development, holding exchange meetings, hosting social gatherings, opening new business courses, and managing business idea contests.
Director Sung-Keun Ki said, "The GIST Business Incubator has always pursued customized entrepreneurship support that considers the standpoint of the company. We will continue to develop excellent enterprises and start-up companies in Gwangju and Jeonnam regions. "
□ Meanwhile, GIST Business Incubator was started by the Small and Medium Business Administration in 2000. By the year 2015, it had fostered 562 start-up enterprises, recorded cumulative sales of 234.26 billion won, and created 2,872 new jobs.
