"GIST Research Achievement Exhibition" will be hosted for the local community
"In the era of the 4th industrial revolution, come to see the future new technology!"
□ The Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST • President Seung Hyeon Moon), which celebrated its 23rd anniversary this year (November 17th), will hold a science and technology exhibition to explore future technologies that will lead the era of the fourth industrial revolution.
∘ GIST will host the "2016 GIST Research Achievement Exhibition" from November 21 (Mon) to 28 (Mon) in Gyeonggi-do, and it is being sponsored by the Gwangju Metropolitan City and the National Gwangju Science Museum.
□ The GIST Research Institute, which oversees the research organizations at GIST, and the GIST Technology Institute, a professional organization for start-ups and technology commercialization, will host technology demonstrations from various research areas.
∘ Research projects from GIST students, including drones, robots, interactive media arts, holograms, transparent solar cells, and fine dust reduction technologies, will be displayed in the lobby of Yongyang Pavilion from November 21st to 28th. (※ Closed on Sunday the 27th).
∘ Several event are scheduled during the exhibition period, including a lecture by KAIST President Seongmo Kang, a discussion for local middle and high school students with with GIST Professor Hisam Kim, and various other events related to the fourth industrial revolution.
∘ In particular, the "GIST Allmadang", which will be held inside and outside of Ohryong Pavilion on the 26th (Saturday), is designed to provide opportunities for local residents to easily understand and appreciate the advances being made in science. A variety of programs such as movie screenings and theatrical performances will be showcased.
□ The opening ceremony will be held on November 21 (Monday) at 11 am. The opening ceremony will be held at the Gwangju Metropolitan City, Gwangju Metropolitan City Office of Education, Gwangju Metropolitan City Office of Education. More than 100 people from Gwangju, Jeonnam region will participate.
∘ At the opening ceremony, a new vision and action plan of the GIST Research Institute (GRI) will be unveiled in order to actively respond to the changing technological environment resulting from the 4th Industrial Revolution and to create a consumer-oriented research and development environment.
∘ The "GIST Researcher" was established in September of this year to establish a system that enables the departments in charge of research planning, research support, technology commercialization and start-up at GIST to organically collaborate and focus on technology commercialization. It is responsible for most research organizations at GIST.
□ GIST President Seung Hyeon Moon said, "GIST is trying to create a breakthrough in this new industrial era through innovation in research organizations and to create research results that can lead to sustainable growth of the nation. This exhibition will introduce GIST research achievements to the local community, and I hope that this will be an opportunity to contribute to the economic and industrial development of Jeonnam region."
