GIST"s Advanced Photonics Research Institute to host SSOLLA 2016
The Advanced Photonics Research Institute (APRI, Director Woo Geun Song) will be hosting 30 young graduate students and researchers from 10 Asian countries for the Summer School On Lasers and Laser Applications 2016 (SSOLLA 2016), which will held for four days starting on July 4, 2016.
SSOLLA has been held every year at GIST since 2008 with participation from other Asian countries, such as Malaysia, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Singapore, India, Indonesia, China, Cambodia, Pakistan, and the Philippines.
Participants will attend lectures and conduct experiments, such as special optical fiber design and applications, micro-processing using lasers, bio-light imaging, femtosecond laser spectroscopy, integrated optics, and terahertz photonics.
APRI Director Woo Geun Song said, “APRI has achieved excellent research results in the areas of basic sciences and industrial applications, including the development of the highest output petawatt laser in the world. We hope to continue with our contribution to the development of Asia"s optical science capabilities through collaboration with laser optics researchers from around the Asia.”
