GIST and Gwangju Metropolitan City hosts event
for members of the National Assembly
On February 29, 2016, the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology
(GIST) under the leadership of President Seung Hyeon Moon and the Gwangju
Metropolitan City hosted events for invited members of the National Assembly to
help strengthen regional development.
Chairman Young-Pyo Cho and Vice-Chairman Dong-Chan Kim of
the Gwangju Metropolitan City along with deputy city council members and
members of the National Assembly arrived at GIST at 10:30 am and toured the
Advanced Photonics Research Institute and the Korea Culture Technology
Institute. During the luncheon hosted by GIST, proposed areas of research
collaboration was announced as well as the status of current projects and
partnerships.
In a luncheon held after the GIST research facility tour ∘
status with the release of Chicago in collaboration with relationship building
for research proposals announced.
While at GIST, 29 council members toured the Advanced Photonics Research Institute (above)
and the Korea Culture Technology Institute
(below).
Chairman Young-Pyo Cho said, "We will promote regional
development with further collaboration with GIST as the will provide the local
economy with an engine for growth."
GIST President Seung Hyeon Moon said, "We prepared this
event to inform the nation"s politicians about how the research and development
carried out at GIST has transformed and benefitted the local and regional
economy. I look forward to promoting vigorous exchanges and programs between
GIST and other agencies and industries to make a greater economic impact on national
development."
