[Press Release] MOU signed between the Korea Cultural Technology Institute and the National Museum of Korea in Naju

MOU signed between the Korea Cultural Technology Institute
and the National Museum of Korea in Naju during a ceremony

Director Kwang Hee Ko of the Korean Cultural Technology Institute at the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Director Jung Hwan Park of the National Museum of Korea in Naju to develop and utilize technology that is relevant to sharing and promoting culture.

The MOU was signed by both institutions on October 20, 2015, at 11:00 am at a ceremony held at the Korean Cultural Technology Institute. The MOU provides a working framework for future cooperation on cultural exhibitions to take advantage of technical implementations, on providing cultural resources and exhibition space, on making modifications based on public sentiments to improve and complement the public"s response to exhibitions, and on providing each other with operational and logistical support.

This past June, the National Museum of Korea in Naju held an exhibit that featured 3D projection mapping technology to recreate 3D images and models of artifacts from the Mahan era of Korea,
including the famous mound tombs of Naju.

The MOU represents an effort by both institutions to contribute to cultural prosperity and to the creative economy by developing and utilizing technological advances that are relevant to sharing and promoting culture.

Director Kwang Hee Ko of the Korea Cultural Technology Institute is also a professor in the School of Mechatronics at GIST said, "This year we have successfully hosted exhibits at the National Museum of Korea in Naju and at the 2015 Summer Universiade in Gwangju, and this MOU between the Korean Cultural Technology Institute and the National Museum of Korea in Naju will continue to strengthen our efforts to contribute to local cultural development and prosperity while helping to promote Korea"s amazing archaeological heritage."
