The Entrepreneurship Promotion Center at GIST held a program called ‘Diving into China’ from July 1st to July 10th for Gwangju and Jeonnam start-up companies to support their expansion in the Chinese market.
‘Diving into China’ is a program to support new start-up companies from Gwangju and Jeonnam areas to expand their companies into China by utilizing Taobao (www.taobao.com), a Chinese e-commerce website. The program consists of educational and training. After the trainees complete the program, their products can be listed and sold on Taobao.
A total of nine new start-up companies participated in the program. They have finished setting up their online stores on Taobao and offer baby products, interior props, liquid fertilizers, Korean traditional makgeorli (rice wine), and other products.
The Entrepreneurship Promotion Center at GIST assisted the companies with establishing all of the procedures to register with Taobao, including payment system, delivery, translation, and marketing.
Director Hae-duk No of the Entrepreneurship Promotion Center said, “We will find and support excellent start-up companies and help promote their products and businesses in the global marketplace. We are also not limited to China, and we can help companies to enter the Japanese market.”
