[Press Release] GIST delivers disaster relief aid to the Nepal Embassy in Seoul
On Friday, May 8, 2015, General Affairs Director Dong-Sun Jo, president of the undergraduate student council Soo-Hyun Park, graduate student representative Yong-Lee Lee, and GIST researcher Shila Maskey held a ceremony at the Embassy of Nepal in Seoul to deliver earthquake relief aid, such as smartphones and Wi-Fi devices worth about $20,000 dollars to the Embassy of Nepal. GIST delivered 100 smartphones, 10 Wi-Fi devices, and other goods worth a total of 22,480,000 KRW. GIST is hoping to help the people of Nepal who have been devastated by the recent earthquakes.
As much as 30,000 homes has been destroyed since the earthquake on April 25th. Although rescue teams have saved 4 victims, including a 101 years old elderly man on the 8th day of the disaster, the possibility of finding more survivors are scarce since the golden-window of 72 hours for finding survivors have already passed.
