Academic Year 2014 Commencement Ceremony Held on Feb 25
Avg. 2.69 Papers as First Author and 5.07 Papers as Co-Author
GIST held its Academic Year 2014 Commencement Ceremony on Wednesday, February 25 in Oryong Hall and conferred a total of 247 academic degrees—42 doctoral, 143 master’s and 62 bachelor’s. The ceremony was attended by more than 500 students and parents.
According to the latest official tally, the 42 Ph.D. graduates while in GIST published 7.76 papers on the average on SCI-listed journals, including 2.69 papers as the first author and 5.07 papers as a co-author.
Dr. Hong-Gyu Kang graduating from School of Materials Science and Engineering received the Science, ICT and Future Planning Minister’s Award. He published 18 papers (7 as first author and 11 as co-author) and registered for 5 patent rights while in GIST as a member of the Organic Semiconductors and Photonics Lab led by Professor Kwanghee Lee.
Dr. Sang-Soo Park graduating from Department of Nanobio Materials and Electronics received the GIST President’s Award. He published as many as 46 papers (6 as first author and 40 as co-author) while in GIST as a member of the Exploratory Hybrid Electronic Device Lab led by Professor Byoung Hun Lee, and presented papers at the prestigious International Electron Devices Meeting of IEEE in 2012 and 2013.
In his commencement address, GIST President Moon Seunghyeon said, “We have confidence in our graduates because we have confidence in our system of education and research. As pioneers of society and harbingers of the future, scientists and engineers should be armed with not only a bold spirit of originality but also a prudent sense of responsibility.”
