Elmer L. Hann Award for Best Paper Delivered at Ship Production Symposium

Professor Kwang Hee Ko of GIST School of Mechatronics and three other Korean researchers received the 2014 Elmer L. Hann Award presented by the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME) of the United States.
SNAME is a leading society of maritime and ocean professionals in the world with over 120 years of history, and the Elmer L. Hann Award is given by SNAME to the author(s) of the best paper delivered at its Ship Production Symposium.
In the annual symposium held in November 2013 in Seattle, Washington, Professor Ko, along with Professor Jong Gye Shin of Seoul National University and two researchers at Samsung Heavy Industries Co., Ltd., presented a paper titled “Improved Triangle Heating for Automated Thermal Forming System.”
Professor Ko received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and has been a member of GIST faculty since 2006. His research interests include geometric modeling and its robustness, physics-based modeling and simulation, dynamic data driven applications systems, and scientific visualization.
