At Gwangju World Kimchi Culture Festival 2014
Over 30 Students from Asia and Europe Participate
33 international students studying at GIST participated in the Gwangju World Kimchi Culture Festival 2014 on October 4. They had a chance to experience Kimchi-making firsthand at the festival’s Pavilion of Five Kimchi-Senses.
Celebrating its 21st year, the Kimchi Festival has become one of Gwangju’s representative annual cultural events. This year, it is held under the theme of “Kimchi Chosen by UNESCO, Gwangju Kimchi to the World and the Future.”
Not only international students in the M.S. and Ph.D. programs but also those participating in GIST’s Global Intern Program (GIP) in this fall semester joined in the cultural experience. They are from many different countries in Asia and Europe, including Rumania, Poland, Israel, Malaysia, Nepal and Pakistan.
The GIP accepts applications from all over the world through its website ipa.gist.ac.kr. The program provides international students with opportunities to take regular courses and carry out research projects at GIST.
