A multimedia mosaic of moments at GIST
Placed at 96th in the World and 4th in Korea in Engineering & Technology
In The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2014-2015 released on October 2, GIST (President: Young Joon Kim) was ranked at 96th in the world in the subject of Engineering & Technology.
GIST was included for the first time in the list of universities evaluated by THE, as its inaugural college class was graduated in February this year. Among the universities in Korea, GIST was fourth in the Engineering & Technology subject rankings, following KAIST (26th), Seoul National University (35th) and POSTECH (48th).
In addition to the overall university rankings, THE releases subject rankings in six broad categories of Arts & Humanities, Clinical & Health, Engineering & Technology, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, and Social Sciences. The evaluation criteria in both the comprehensive and the subject rankings include teaching, research, citations, international outlook, and industry income.
As the teaching and research scores depend significantly on academic reputation, institutions newly entering the rankings are at a comparative disadvantage. With relatively strong scores in objective indexes such as citations, GIST is expected to make a rise in THE rankings.
