Trio of GIST College Students appointed as
UNU-GIST Joint Programme Ambassadors
□ On December 16, 2016, the GIST International Environmental Research Center (Director Joon Ha Kim) appointed three amazing GIST College students to be United Nations University-GIST Joint Programme Ambassadors: SuKyoung Yun, Jisoo Sohn, and Soojin Lee.
□ The students were appointed as public relations ambassadors for the UNU-INWEH (United Nations University - Institute for Water, Environment and Health) and will participate in an internship program that will be held in Ontario, Canada, from January 9 to February 17, 2017.
° The GIST International Environmental Research Center decided to involve GIST College students in a joint internship program operated by the agency to strengthen its partnership with UNU-INWEH and will send three PR ambassadors to UNU-INWEH for six weeks in Ontario, Canada.
These three ambassadors involved in the internship program will ▲ conduct technical and policy research on how water quality sustainable development goals on how the new urban agenda will affect the formation of water-sensitive cities ▲ study financial options based on water security issues and public sector financing sources ▲ and will conduct data analysis on ecosystem-based management and disaster risk-reduction aspects in Southeast Asia.
□ Ambassador SuKyoung Yun said, "I would like to take this opportunity to learn about global trends related to sustainable development goals and the new urban agenda. I want to experience the vitality of international organizations during my internship and to carry out various projects that would not be possible on campus."
□ Director Joon Ha Kim said, "This will be a great opportunity for the students selected as PR ambassadors to not only develop their self-esteem through various experiences as future scientists but also to promote the GIST International Environmental Research Center and the UNU-GIST Joint Programme."
