GIST-Electric Power Research Institute to discuss cooperation
The Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST) and the Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) will discuss ways to strengthen mutual cooperation and research opportunities.
GIST President Seung Hyeon Moon and Professor Byoung Hun Lee who is the Dean of International and Public Affairs met on March 10, 2016, with Electric Power Research Institute Director Dong-Seob Kim and other officials to discuss the possibilities of engaging in joint-research projects as well as the exchange of research personnel and technical information.
In May of 2015, GIST and KEPCO has signed a memorandum of understanding to establish the Energy Valley Institute of Technology to promote the development of a regional energy industry. Cooperative areas of research and development include the creation of technologies to improve the efficiency and stability of power equipment.
Director Dong-Seob Kim said, "The combined skills and know-how of GIST and the Electric Power Research Institute will provide a strong foundation for the future economic success of the region."
GIST President Seung Hyeon Moon said, "By actively promoting scientific and technical exchanges with the Electric Power Research Institute, GIST will contribute to regional economic growth by developing critical component of the energy sector for the creative economy."
