GIST receives an award for helping to make the
2015 Universiade in Gwangju a success
GIST received an award on August 1, 2015, from Gwangju Mayor Jang Hyun Yoon for helping to make the 2015 Universiade in Gwangju a success. The city of Gwangju also thanked GIST for supporting the “Living Together Gwangju, Happy Citizens” campaign.
Forty-eight GIST College students volunteered to join a group to cheer athletes at the diving and swimming competition held at Nambu University. The students also helped to keep the facilities clean after each round of competition and to help visitors find their way around the venue.
The city of Gwangju was especially thankful to the support given by GIST College students Dae Wook Song and Jung Won Baek for their contagious spirit and selected them as the best supporters. They were given special awards in addition to the GIST award.
Undergraduate student Dae Wook Song said, “It felt rewarding to be able to contribute to an international sporting events for university students, and I want to thank my fellow GIST students for their active participation as supporters.”
