Professor Tae-Sun Choi of GIST School of
Mechatronics and Professor Joon Ha Kim of GIST School of Environmental Science and
Engineering have been elected a full member and an associate member, respectively,
of the Korean Academy of Science and Technology (KAST), which is the
representative association of distinguished Korean scholars in science and
technology.
Professor Choi received his Ph.D. degree
from State University of New York at Stony Brook in the United States and has
been a member of GIST faculty since 1996. He has made notable contributions in the
fields of digital signal processing and image processing and won prestigious
academic prizes, including an IEEE Third Millennium Medal.
Professor Kim received his
Ph.D. degree from University of California, Irvine in the United States and has
been a member of GIST faculty since 2004. He has published over 100 papers in
the fields of water environment management and treatment and seawater
desalination and won an Environment Minister’s Citation, a Science Minister’s
Award and a GIST Education Award.
