A multimedia mosaic of moments at GIST
The Global Desalinization Research Center (GDRC) of GIST held a discussions meeting in the National Assembly on Tuesday, November 25, on the theme of fostering desalinization as a creative industry.
The meeting was co-hosted by National Assembly members Kim Choon Jin (Chair of Health and Welfare Committee) and Kim Sung Tae (Secretary of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Committee).
Vice Speaker of the National Assembly Lee Seok Hyun said in his welcome remark, “The desalinization industry is a global trend of our times in which Korea has to make an investment. We will make sure that adequate support is provided.”
Also attending the discussions meeting were National Assembly members Ryu Ji Yeong and Ha Tae Kyung.
The discussion panel included government officials from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure & Transport, the Ministry of Trade, Industry & Energy, and the Ministry of Environment; industry professionals from Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction and Korea Water Resources Corporation; and academics from Kookmin University and the Korean Society of Environmental Engineers.
The panel discussions were led by Professor In Soo Kim (GIST School of Environmental Science and Engineering; Director of GDRC) on future directions of desalinization R&D and ways to promote cooperation between large companies and medium-to-small companies.
