Professor Jang-Soo Chun of the School of Life Sciences made a contribution of 10 million won to GIST Development Fund.

Professor Chun is a world-leading researcher on osteoarthritis, a disease characterized by cartilage degeneration. His team identified the roles played by zinc, the zinc transporter ZIP8, and the transcription factor MTF1 in osteoarthritis pathogenesis and published the results in Cell in February 2014.

Professor Chun won the Kyung-Ahm Academic Prize earlier in November 2014 in recognition of his outstanding research achievements, and he donated part of the prize money to GIST Development Fund.
