A multimedia mosaic of moments at GIST
A completion ceremony for the GIST Global Intern Program (GIP) was held on Thursday, August 7 in Oryong Hall. The 19 students who successfully completed the program received their certificates and held a presentation session and a poster session. Launched in 2008, the GIP is a 6-week internship program for students from other countries to stay on the GIST campus, observe and participate in research, take Korean language and culture classes, and experience the Korean culture. This year, 19 students from 12 countries, including Spain, Turkey, India, Malaysia, and China, were selected from an applicant pool of 314 students from 32 countries and stayed in GIST from June 30 through August 8. They also had a trip to the Boryeong Mud Festival on July 25. Phang Ling, a Malaysian student from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, said, “The GIP was a great opportunity for me to have a research experience in my field of interest in an excellent environment. I also grew a lot personally by participating in various cultural programs and building friendship with people from many countries.” Antonio Peteira Martinez, a Spanish student from the University of Santiago, said, “I am very happy and grateful for the lab experience and Korean classes. I learned so much about Korea’s science and technology as well as culture through the GIP.” Applications for the GIP are accepted online at http://ipa.gist.ac.kr.
