A multimedia mosaic of moments at GIST
Professor Wang, Se Myung receives the order of service merit for his contribution to national R&D Professor Wang, Se Myung at the School of Mechatronics of GIST (Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology, President ž Young Joon Kim) received the order of service merit at the ‘2013 National Research & Development Performance Evaluation’ . The order was awarded to Professor Wang in recognition of his contributions to the cultivation of outstanding scientists through the establishment and operation of the GIST – LG Innotek Research Center and the program to facilitate cooperation between GIST and Samsung Electronics. In addition, his research work on the optimization of noise and vibration and the development of an analysis algorithm has garnered global recognition. At 11 am on December 30th, the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning (Minister ž Choi, Mun Kee) held the award ceremony for the ‘2013 National Research & Development Performance Evaluation’ at Gwacheon National Science Museum and conferred medals and citations to winners including Professor Wang. GIST was chosen as an institute with outstanding performance at the Evaluation for 3 years in a row this year and received a presidential citation at the ceremony. (Refer to the Korean press release dated July 31, 2013 and English news dated August 8, 2013) The “Performance Evaluation of State-sponsored R&D Projects” organized by the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning had made considerable contributions to boosting the morale of researchers by conferring awards to scientists who made outstanding research outcomes or undertook superb administrative support. In 2013, National Research & Development Performance Evaluation was conducted for about 6 months from February to July.
