GIST Korea Culture Technology Institute Signs a MoU with Gimmyoung The Korea Culture Technology Institute (KCTI) at the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST, President Young Joon Kim) led by Director Jin Hong Jung signed a memorandum of understanding with publishing house Gimmyoung (CEO: Eun Ju Park) for the “Vitalization of Convergence among Humanities, Arts and Technology” on January 15. With this MoU, the two aim to establish a forum of convergence among humanities, arts and technology, produce a full range of cultural contents and research outcomes, and distribute them across cultural industries in Korea, thereby contributing to the nation’s creative economy and cultural prosperity. Joint efforts to be promoted by the two organizations include: establishing an archive of cultural assets by publishing books on Korea’s cultural masters; promoting projects to preserve and inherit tangible and intangible artisan skills and publishing the results; vitalizing small bookstores for the popularization of humanities and the promotion of publishing and printing culture; and vitalizing the functions of traditional seowon as hubs of humanity and art education and as cultural and living communities.
