An Average of 6.53 Papers Released in SCI Journals by a GIST’s Doctorate Graduate

– 2013 Summer Graduation Ceremony held

– 40 awarded doctor’s degree and 49 master’s degree

– Dr. Kim Joo-han (School of Materials Science and Engineering) released the most papers (21) in SCI journals among graduates.

– GIST has produced 3616 graduates (doctors and masters) so far and will produce college graduates next February for the first time.

 

 

 

 

 

 

□ Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST, President   Young Joon Kim) held the 2013 summer graduation ceremony in 2 p.m. on August 23^rd at Oryong Hall. About 400 people including graduates, their parents, and faculties, were present at the ceremony.

 

□ At the ceremony, 89 students (49 doctors and 49 masters) were awarded. Among them, 15 (4 doctors and 11 masters) were foreigners from Egypt, Mongolia, Vietnam, and Cambodia.

 

□ An average of 6.53 papers in SCI journals were released by doctorate graduates while they were studying at GIST. This proves the prowess in scientific researches of GIST who focuses on nurturing selected few scientific and engineering researchers. Dr. Kim, Joo Han (School of Materials Science and Engineering) released 21 papers in SCI journals, the biggest among the doctorate graduates.

 

□ GIST produced its first graduates in 1997 and so far has produced 3616 talented researchers (802 doctors and 2814 masters).

 

□ GIST first allowed the admission of college students in 2010 and will have the first college graduates next February.
