On March 4, 2013, Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST/ President Young Joon Kim) held the 2013 entrance ceremony for undergraduate programs and graduate programs at the main auditorium of Oryong Hall at 11am.

At the entrance ceremony, GIST welcomed a total of 350 new students, including 108 students in college degree program,152 students in master’s course, 73 students in doctor’s course, and 17 students in master’s and doctor’s integrated course with 19 foreign students from 12 different countries.

At the congratulatory speech, the President Young Joon Kim said, “GIST celebrates the 20th anniversary of its establishment this year. Despite the small size, it has developed into a university with world-class research capacity due to the efforts of the teaching staff and students along with the full support from the Korean government. We will work towards creating a pleasant school life with the best research and educational system for new students.”
