Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST, President Young Joon Kim) and the German Aerospace Center (DLR) will carry out Core Research Technology for the Next Generation, Carbon-free Lithium Ion Battery.

GIST Electrochemical Reaction & Technology Laboratory (ERTL) and the DLR announced that the two institutions signed a non-disclosure agreement on January 31st in Stuttgart to disclose and exchange their core technologies.

Through this agreement, Professor Jaeyoung Lee’s research team at the ERTL and Professor Andreas Friedrich‘s research team of the DLR aim to cooperate on technology sharing and research cooperation for the development of future high-power lithium ion battery.

The two research teams jointly conducted researches on the next generation of energy storage system for the past decade and are jointly developing carbon-free hydrogen fuel cell, which is hailed as highly efficient energy source of the future, under the Seventh European Research Framework Program (“the IMPACT project”)
