Selecting interns among recommended students will be completed by March 15, after which they will be informed of their supervisors and labs. Benefits for the 2013 GIST GIP participants include dormitory fees, a one-way air ticket, health insurance covers and programs designed to help them adapt themselves to new environments, as well as living allowances.

The number of interns to be selected for the year 2013 is 30: 21 institutes including Caltech, Imperial College London and the Mauritian Ministry of Tertiary Education Science Research and Technology each have a nomination of one candidate, while the remaining number will be filled with candidates selected in open competition.
