GIST, Securing Growth Base for World"s Top 30 University (Interview with Kwangju Daily) Kim Young Joon, the sixth president of Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST), took the oath of office, and started its official work on June 29. Born in Seoul, he graduated Kyunggi High School, Seoul National University, and Colorado State University (doctoral degree in Civil Engineering) in the U.S. In 1996, he joined GIST. He was involved with major positions in the university. He was the Director of Education Department, Professor of School of Environmental Science and Engineering, and vice president of GIST. In particular, former presidents of GIST were outsiders, but Kim is the first people who was a professor of GIST and become its president. (The rest is omitted.)
