[e-Newspaper Interview] Kim Young-Jun, newly appointed GIST President I will make efforts to discover dissertations with high degree of completion and influence “In the past the focus has been on quantitative growth. But from now on `quality` will be the main focus.” Kim Young-Joon said in the exclusive interview with e-Newspaper after being appointed the sixth President of Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology(GIST) at GIST board meeting on May 30th. It was the first time to appoint an insider as President in 19 years since its establishment. (Omitted) New President Kim, who will start his official work on the 4th next month after being approved by the Minister of Education, Science and Technology, graduated Gyeonggi High School, Seoul National University and Colorado State University. He served as head of Administration Office of GIST and Vice Chairman of Society of Air Environmental Engineering and now is Vice President of GIST, a member of the Korean Academy of Science and Technology, Director of the Korean Federation of Science and Technology Societies, and Commissioner of the Yellow Sand Committee of Korea Meteorological Administration.
