Wonderful Optical Fiber Workshop (Applied lab for special optical fibers, Donga Science, December Edition)

 

“This is the optical fiber. It"s like a hair, isnt" it?"

Professor Wontaek Han at the School of Information and Communication of the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST) cut and displayed a thread form a skein GIST. It looked like an ordinary thread at first sight. In fact, it was an optical fiber made in his applied lab for special optical fibers. Professor Han stripped its surface by scratching with his nail. In the thread made of glass was a thinner thread.
