GIST has developed a technology that doubles the lifespan of organic solar cells.

A technology for enhancing the performance and lifespan of organic solar cells, which is heralded as a renewable energy, has been developed by the researchers at GIST.

GIST(President Jung-ho Sonu) announced on Oct. 5 that professor Dong-yoo Kim (School of Material Science and Engineering) and a Ph.D candidate Jin-moon Yoon have succeeded in developing an original technology that will boost twice as much the performance and lifespan of organic solar cells as the current ones.

Kim"s team succeeded in extending the lifespan and boosting the performance of the cell by inserting reduced graphene which was chemically produced between the ITO electrode and the organic matter instead of the conventionally used PEDOT:PSS.
