GIST(Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology, President Jung-ho Sonu) was found to be a world-class university in terms of citations per faculty, according to a survey.
According to this year"s evaluation of universities" competitiveness by a british global university-evaluating agency QS, GIST surpassed the world-renowned MIT to be ranked 12th in terms of the number of citation per faculty member and also maintained No.1 in Asia for three consecutive years. Hong-guk Kim, the head of GIST"s office of international and public affairs, said "GIST gives faculty members a very special incentive package when their research papers are published in three major journals (Nature·Science·Cell) and GIST also rewards excellent faculty members with a "excellent academic achievement prize" to encourage them to continuously produce academic achievements.
