“Aiming to be one of the world"s top 30 universities by 2025"

Young-Joon Kim (Photo), Vice-president of the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST) remarked "The GIST, which is based on the honam region, has been growing as one of the best science and technology institute in Korea along with KAIST in the chungcheong region and POSTEC in the yeongnam region. We are confident that we can outshine as one of the world-best universities through fostering global science and technology talents, developing future original technologies and establishing optimum environments for education and research."

Vice-president Kim proudly announced "The undergraduate program at the GIST, for the first time in Korea, has introduced the small-group education system modeling after Caltech, a prestigious name in the US, to establish the optimum education environments and offer quality education services. The strong points of the GIST include the establishment of international networks among advanced researchers by operating three novel research centers directed by three Novel Prize Winners aiming to promote basic research worth awarding Novel Prizes."
