GIST After School Summer Camp - Students visit laboratories in the GIST and the National Science Museum - Serves as a forum for students to share and extend their knowledge On July 28 and 29, the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST, president: Jung-Ho Sonu) held the GIST Baeum Madang (After School) Summer Camp that invited 80 youths in the region. The camp offered programs intended to help the students experience new things and extend their knowledge by visiting GIST labs, where they watched the actual spot of cutting-edge science research, the National Science Museum and the Currency Museum. "The GIST Baeum Madang is a volunteer activity using knowledge, where GIST students donate their talents." said Bong-ryeol Yang, vice-president of public affairs. The GIST has conducted the GIST Baeum Madang, where GIST students serve as voluntary teachers, since January 2010 in 14 children"s centers in the Gwangju region.
