GIST holds the ‘Name Day’ event with a local baseball team
– 1,500 GIST faculty and students attend the scenic and picturesque event -

On Thursday, April 29, 2010, the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (President Jungho SONU), together with the KIA Tigers, the local professional baseball team, held the ‘Name Day’ event.

The ‘Name Day’ event was organized to keep local citizens abreast of GIST news and fulfill the local passion of supporting the KIA Tigers. For the event, approximately 1,500 GIST faculty members and students watched their beloved Tigers play at Gwangju Mudeung Stadium.

To begin the game, a silent respectful tribute was offered the victims of the Cheonham disaster. GIST ensured that the event was held in an intimate and quite setting by keeping official-related events to a minimum.
