Four natural sciences & engineering universities including GIST promote a national project to nurture talented people

Four natural science & engineering universities including Korea Student Aid Foundation and Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology(GIST), Ulsan National Institute of Science & Technology(UNIST), Pohang University of Science & Technology(POSTECH), and Korea Advanced Institute of Science & Technology(KAIST) agreed to make a comprehensive alliance for joint promotion of the talent nurturing projects, and signed the MOU on Wednesday, April 28, 2010, at the Grand Hall of the Korea Student Aid Foundation located in Joong-gu, Seoul.



 



At the MOU ceremony, chairman Kyung Sook LEE of Korea Student Aid Foundation, president Jung Ho SONU of Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology, president Moo Je CHO Ulsan National Institute of Science & Technology, president Sung Gi Baek of Pohang University of Science & Technology and president Nam Pyo SEO of Korea Advanced Institute of Science & Technology attended, and agreed to mutually cooperate with each other to nurture global talents that the nation need.

□ Based on this MOU, these four universities including the Korea Student Aid Foundation will jointly promote various talent nurturing projects where national scholarship students can contribute to the society, teach other younger students, and foster sense of duty and characteristics of a leader.



 



□ For example, ‘Knowledge Service Mentoring Project’ where students of the four universities will provide to students recommended by local high schools; ‘Education Service Oriented Overseas Service Activities’ for handing down various knowledge to students of developing countries; and ‘Mentoring Program’ where social leaders hand down knowledge and experience to university students will be held.



 



□ At the event, president Kyung Sook LEE said “this MOU that we made with four science and technology universities will be a starting point of the national talents nurturing project which we, the Korea Student Aid Foundation provides”, and “we will continue to develop various talents nurturing projects and cooperate with various prominent universities in Korea to successfully accomplish our mission”.
