Award: Professor Dong-you Kim won the ‘Science Innovation Award’ at the 2006 NANO KOREA AWARDS

Professor Dong-you Kim from the Department of Mechartronics at the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST) received the ‘Science Innovation Award’ from the ‘Chief of Committee and Relevant Organization’ at the 2006 NANO KOREA AWARDS held on August 30th, 2006. Professor Kim presented various research achievements in OLED, OTFF, Organic Solar Cell, Nano Pattering Techniques and Optoelctric Device fields.

Professor Kim established the Heeger Material Science Research Center at the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST), with the director of the center ALAN J. HEEGER (Professor in the Department of Engineering at the University of California at Santa Barbara in the United States of America), the 2000 Nobel Laureate in Chemistry to promote the discovery and development of conductive polymers.

Professor Kim is the vice-director of the Heeger Material Science Center and a leading scholar in international joint research of Plastic Electronics Engineering. This is the core technology of Energy, Nano, Life Science and Flexible Displays.

Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST) is a research-oriented graduate school established by the Ministry of Science and Technology in the Republic of Korea in 1993.

The University Identity was changed from K-JIST to GIST in 2004.
