GIST receives grand prize award as the best start-up university in Korea

▲ The "SOS Lab" to research and develop lidar technology was founder in 2016 by 4 GIST graduate students in the Ph.D. program

□ GIST (President Seung Hyeon Moon) received the grand prize award as the best start-up university in Korea for the second consecutive year.

□ The Maekyung Entrepreneurship Index ranked 328 universities nationwide according to data published by the Ministry of Education, which was evaluated by the Maeil Business Newspaper, the Korea Venture Business Association, the Korean Entrepreneurship Association, and the Korea Business Incubation Association. The evaluations were conducted in three different areas: △ start-up infrastructure of each university △ start-up performance △ start-up support.

∘ △ The start-up infrastructure evaluated the existence of a dedicated start-up section, the presence of a technology transfer (commercialization) section, securing start-up support space, professional manpower, and the number of start-up clubs. △ The start-up performance evaluated the results of the general start-up, sales, and employment of students. △ The start-up support evaluated the business incubation center, the number of start-up lectures for students, and general start-up lectures.

□ GIST ranked first in the 'Entrepreneurial Infrastructure' and 'Supporting Entrepreneurs' categories for the second consecutive year, ranking first overall for the second consecutive year.

□ The GIST Business Incubator actively attracts government venture support projects and recently won the project to support venture launch packages in 2017.

□ Professor Jin-hee Ahn in the Department of Chemistry said, "We have created a variety of creative ideas for students, such as student technology start-up clubs and start-up competitions, which have resulted in good results. "

□ Director Seungkeun Ki said, "We will continue to strive to lead the creation of high quality jobs and the revitalization of the local economy by actively supporting companies in the region with the GIST start-up infrastructure to ensure stable growth."

□ The award ceremony for the best start-up university in Korea was held on the 12th floor of the Maekyung Media Center on June 1, 2018.
